Government to help family repatriate Paulo Romão’s remains to Cape Verde

24-year-old Paulo Romão, who was studying Systems Analysis and Development at Estácio University in Fortaleza, the capital of the Brazilian state of Ceará, died last Friday of injuries sustained in a traffic accident in the city.

The young Porto Novo native’s death caused shock and grief in the local Cape Verdean student community, which began a fund-raising campaign in an effort to fulfill his family’s wish to bury him in Cape Verde.

In order to do so, they needed to raise some 20,000 reals. The appeal was promptly accepted by the Cape Verdean government, which has offered to help the family repatriate his remains to the country.
