The contract represents yet another important step toward the fulfillment of this project in the Cape Verdean capital – a special request on the part of Prime Minister José Maria Neves. In October, the Praia municipal assembly deliberated on the sale of a plot of land to The Resort Group PLC to build the hotel in the capital’s large Achada de Santo António neighborhood.
The hotel will be Hilton’s second in Cape Verde – in June, construction began on the international group’s first enterprise in the country, on the island of Sal. The Sal hotel should be concluded by March 2016, with an estimated cost of some 46 million euros.
Fully Cape Verdean-owned construction company SGL was chosen to build the Hilton Hotel on the island of Sal. The license, approved by the government in April of 2013, gives the company a gambling concession for the next 25 years. The hotel will be the first in the country to feature a casino, the budget of which is expected to hover near 5 billion escudos.
