Two homes in the village of Pontinha de Janela, one in Penedo and another in Ribeira de Penedo were searched. As far as A Semana Online has been able to determine, investigations remain under way, and no indication of the origin of the drugs or the identity of their owner has been found. The four individuals whose homes were searched were detained for questioning and subsequently released.

A Semana Online sources, however, say that police have been investigating since May in an attempt to solve the mystery.

According to our sources, one of the individuals questioned for allegedly having taken the drugs without reporting his find confessed that he had “decided to sell a portion of the drugs after finding them on Penedo beach.” According to the same source, “he never sold a single gram because he was forced to turn everything over to two men from the island of Santiago, who threatened him with a firearm.”
