Rain showers Santiago, Fogo and Brava

In São Lourenço dos Órgãos, on the island of Santiago, the reservoir formed by the Polião dam reached capacity, and a number of houses were flooded, while some public infrastructures sustained damage.

The population of the Pico de Antónia zone have been isolated since yesterday, when flash floods cut off access roads. The Assomada-Praia was also overtaken by flash flooding following the rains that fell in the early morning hours today, and the Highway Institute is already on the ground to resolve the most urgent situations.

As of this writing, rain was still falling over the islands of Fogo, Brava and Santiago. Farmers contacted by A Semana Online on the island of Fogo said that the quantity of precipitation that fell today has increased hopes for a good harvest season, but flash flooding left the districts of Fajãzinha and Muro, both in the municipality of Mosteiros, isolated.
