Some 40 Portuguese businesses are participating in the trade fair, while twenty companies from Brazil – more specifically, the state of Ceará – are present representing the real-estate and textile sectors. This year, however, the highlights are marine transportation, the security sector and new technology, according to organizers. Also present will be businesses working in the areas of hotel management, banking, industrial equipment, telecommunications and insurance.
An innovation in the FIC’s series of conferences is “Logistics in the Middle Atlantic,” which is being promoted by the Windward Islands Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the FIC and port management company ENAPOR. The objective is to analyze the constraints seen on the level of marine transportation in order to emphasize Cape Verde’s strategic and geographic position as a crossroads of three continents on the international trade agenda.
As such, FIC’s organizers hope that, despite the economic recession resulting from the international financial crisis, this year’s edition will be one of the best so far in terms of activities and quality. The 13th edition of the FIC is expected to receive some 7,000 visitors.
Prime Minister José Maria Neves will be present at the fair.
