In the official unveiling of the two new offices Friday, Bank of Cape Verde governor Carlos Burgo said that the opening of a new bank branch represents “a step toward the construction of a financial system that the country desires, deserves and is building.”
Burgo used to occasion to inform those present that the number of bank branches in the country has grown an average of 13% over the past five years.
The central bank governor specified that the Cape Verdean banking sector counted a total of five commercial bank institutions with a total of 85 branches at the end of 2009, 30 of them located in the city of Praia.
BAI administrator David Jasse, for his part, affirmed that the bank’s objective is to have an ever-improving network to serve its business and individual clients. “With the opening of these branches, we will have the capacity to increase our services and offer products adapted to our clients’ needs.”
