Canary Islands increases number of scholarships for Cape Verdean students 19 Junho 2009

The Spanish autonomous region of the Canary Islands has decided to increase the number of vacancies and scholarships to be offered to Cape Verdean students in its universities.

The news was announced Thursday, June 18 by Cape Verdean Prime Minister José Maria Neves after a four-day official visit to the Spanish archipelago.

Neves, quoted by Angolan news agency Angop, also affirmed that “a strong partnership in the realm of renewable energies and the production of desalinated water” was also discussed with the president of the Canary islands regional government, Paulino Rivero Baute.

The initiative, however, “will have to be carried out with the coverage of the Spanish government,” said José Maria Neves.
