Court finds in favor of suspended FHI workers 20 Junho 2009

The labor sector of Praia district court has ruled in favor of the six IFH employees punished with six days’ suspension and the cancellation of their end-of-year bonus and vacation pay in 2007.

The leader of labor union SISCAP, Julião Varela, explained that in May, an initial ruling considered the punishment applied by the state housing and construction company’s administrative council illegal and ordered it to pay the benefits that had been withheld from them.

The punishment came in response to a petition submitted to the government in which the company’s employees denounced what they considered to be the harmful administrative practices of then Administrative Council president Hélder Araújo. The individuals who signed the document were given six days’ suspension and had their end-of-year bonuses and vacation pay withheld.
