Romeu Modesto explained that the 2003 contingent includes all of the central state public administration employees whose careers had been at a standstill. It includes upper-level specialists, physicians, magistrates, administrators and other state servants.
“These promotions were only made possible thanks to the conclusion of the updating and validation of the Public Administration Human Resources Data Base. This work, which was carried out by the State Secretariat of Public Administration, has resulted in greater fairness and transparency in Public Administration acts in Cape Verde,” says Modesto.
The State Public Administration Secretary adds that in August there will be a second wave of promotions for public workers who last saw career progressions in 2004 and 2005. “We have funds of some 150 million escudos in this year’s General State Budget to free up promotions dating back to 2003 and 2005 and open up promotion and reclassification candidacies in 2009.”
